What are Webkinz?
Webkinz are small plush toys available in two sizes, standard and Lil' Kinz.
However these are not just cuddly toys alone!
So what makes them special?
With all Webkinz, both standard and Lil' Kinz, inside each unopened tag is a unique code.
This code can be used on the Official Webkinz Website where you can register ownership of the particular character purchased, this is through what is called the adoption centre.
What's so good about that?
Even though the plush toys may look the same, each code even with the same species means that the character adopted may have a totally different personality in Webkinz world - so there in theory you could have a whole flock of differently behaving sheep in your area on the website.

- The Adoption Centre helps new members register their pets
- Ms. Birdy helps kids register, choose a name and then sends their pets to be checked out by Dr. Quack before they start to play!

- The Webkinz Newz is the site's daily newspaper.
- It's the first thing kids see every time they log onto the site.
- It's definitely the place to get announcements of anything and everything that's new, including results of contests and high scores too!

- Kids can decorate each room with colourful and fun furnishings from the W Shop.
- Earn more Kinzcash to add on more rooms and yards, so pets can play outdoors.
- Stoves and fridges work, so meals can be cooked and stored--even the plumbing works!
- Kids can set their imaginations free, and create crazy rooms for their favorite pets!

What if I'm not online?
That's not a reason to not adopt a little critter. As with other "previous collectables" the Webkinz collections has regular retirees so that you still get the thrill of the hunt and the desire to get as many of the collection as possible. So get in early to get them before they get harder to find (and also could prove more expensive to obtain)
Just how big (trend wise) are these?
Webkinz have been massive in the States and Canada - with news stories of Webkinz Shortages, Kids hooked on Webkinz and is currently the fifth most popular MMO (geek for online world). Current stats show that over 100 million units sold in 2007 and are currently running at 10 million units per month.
Is there a trend coming this way?
When we stock them we are obviously going to be a little biased, however we truly believe this is a trend just waiting to erupt. It has followed the patterns of previous collectable crazes with it being massive in the USA and now making its way over to the UK. Already there are retirements making possible global trading through swaps and eBay possible. Is there room currently in the market for a new collectable - DEFINITELY!
